My Story

Kevin Bond
Baltimore, MD

Growing up in the inner city of Baltimore, he faced significant challenges from an early age.
Abandoned by both parents due to their struggles with addiction, Kevin found himself navigating a world of crime, becoming a career criminal by the age of 12. His early years were marred by drug dealing and survival on the streets, which led to numerous encounters with the judicial system, including juvenile detention centers, foster care, and ultimately, 22 years in federal prison.

With charges ranging from shootings to drug offenses, Kevin once possessed a mindset that contributed to his own destruction and that of his community. However, Kevin has transformed his life and now serve as a beacon of

hope.

Every summer, he leads a youth summer camp that focuses on conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, financial literacy, and real-world skills, empowering children to grow into productive members of society. Additionally, as the CEO of Youth Alternatives To Violence, Kevin leverages his lived experience to inspire positive change within his

community.

Since released from prison in 2020, Kevin has been on a mission to enrich the lives of individuals from adolescence to adulthood, demonstrating that a better life is possible. Embarking on a journey to enter the Youth Detention Center and the adult prison systems across Maryland.

Kevin works closely with the Lived experience Committee and the Department of Corrections to educate incarcerated communities in support of recidivism rates. Reshaping mindsets one prison , one inmate , one juvenile delinquent and one

household at a time.
